An energized and forward-thinking executive, Rebecca Sanin is passionate about innovative

ideas that improve how local government can make a difference in families’ lives in the

Town of Huntington. She has been a local advocate, dedicated public servant, and

enthusiastic leader committed to solving local issues and driving progress in her

hometown and across Long Island.

My name is Rebecca Sanin, and I’m running for County Legislator. I wanted to tell you about who I am and how I can put my experience to work for you.

My career has been dedicated to public service and improving our community. I served in County Executive Steve Bellone’s administration, where, I helped lead the performance management team to make government more efficient and effective to make sure that we could hold the line on taxes by reducing waste. Today, I’m the President and CEO of a nonprofit business that helps thousands of Long Islanders in need, from providing food assistance to individuals to supporting small businesses across the region.

My experience helping County Executive Bellone reform government, and now in the nonprofit sector, has taught me the importance of having qualified, dedicated leaders. Waste and corruption drive me crazy because they erode people’s faith in government, drive up taxes, and prevent help from getting to those who need it most.

I am running for County Legislator because I want to put my extensive experience to work for our community and because I believe we need more leaders who spend time listening and bringing people together.

I will continue to push for greater efficiency and accountability in our government to make sure we can dedicate our resources to critical priorities like public safety. I will work with experts and community members to pinpoint areas with the highest crime rates and work collectively to develop robust safety strategies. And I’ll tirelessly advocate for stronger gun laws to prevent gun violence.

We live on an island, so we must dedicate ourselves to keeping our drinking water clean and safe, and protecting our bays and waterways from dangerous pollution. We must reverse the trend of record beach closings, that is why I’ll push for clean water infrastructure investments that allow more residents and businesses to hook up to the county wastewater system and prevent sewage and pollution from entering Suffolk’s water supply untreated.

I have dedicated my career to public service, and I know we can do better.

I would be honored to earn your vote on November 7, and I hope your participation doesn’t stop there. Our democracy only works if we talk to one another. That is why we need voices like yours at the table.
